One of our students booked a role in a TV series!
That's right, we have a new success story!
One of our students, Tariq Amawi, who has been studying with us for a few months, just landed a role in a major TV series, where he will be portraying an Arabian warrior.
In classes, we not only work on our acting skills, but also learn how to market ourselves as actors and actually book the job.
This is what Tariq has to say about his acting journey so far:
"First I attended the 'How to Play The Villain' course taught by Mahesh Jadu who plays Vilgefortz in The Witcher. That was incredible.
I learned so so much in such a short space of time and made heaps of notes that will forever change how I approach any script.
We recorded a showreel shot by professional videographers and edited and for the first time I could see what I looked like on screen! Mahesh directed the shots and I learned so much more about camera, eyeline, delivery of lines. I loved every minute of it.
From there I went back to Norway and began practicing and recording monologues into my phone. I did dozens and dozens of takes. Each time trying to make the new one more convincing and natural than the last - to drop the 'acting' and just 'be'.
I enrolled in Masterclass online and began learning acting there. I watched movies and series and this time studied the performance of the actors, noting their body language and gestures and facial expressions and how they interacted and inhabited the world.
I could now see so much subtlety that I couldn't before!
I decided I HAD to come back to Marbella Film School and do more. We filmed a couple more scenes and I got my professional headshots done. I took Nicole A Moerland's stellar advice and niched myself. As I have Arabian looks I played to that. I began training in the gym and grew my beard so as to be ready to play an Arabian warrior. Serendipity struck and I received an audition for an Arabian warrior!
Well now I was pumped (literally) and feeling ready. Nicole helped me put together an epic self-tape, coaching me and guiding me on acting technique and how to make it believable and I booked the role!
I now have my first paid speaking role in a new TV series! I fly out for filming in the coming months!
What's so magical to me is this was an idea in my head several months back, but it just goes to show you that with the right mindset, work ethic and phenomenal mentorship and guidance you can achieve your dreams in a short span of time.
I'm so grateful to Mahesh Jadu for all his hard-won nuggets of wisdom he would drop in my pocket and Nicole A Moerland's dedication to her craft and her generosity of giving me everything I needed to succeed.
I'm excited for the future. And the best part, I don't even have to 'act' like I am!"
