Dacre Montgomery's Story

"I never let the failures get me down.

Because I believed in myself and I never let anyone tell me otherwise.

You can do anything you set your mind to.

So, go out there and get it!"

When we listen to actors' stories we tend to think that success comes from nowhere and it's so easy to get. Still, far enough from that thought, there is a process behind each individual that lets us grow not only as professionals but also as human beings. Australian actor, Dacre Montgomery, used to be a timid guy, considered "chubby" by some people, and with anxiety problems in the past. It was acting that allowed him to overcome his problems and realize he was a good actor after being told he was not.

Fun Fact, Dacre came to one of our Holiday Program in our sister school Perth Film School when he was a teenager.

Here is another example of not giving up. In our careers we are going to audition many, many times, we might get a role, and many others we might don't. But don't take that decision as a personal attack because it never is, casting directors don't know us on a personal level, and they won't see us again in their lives most likely, they are following directions on what type of actor the production needs regardless of the talent.

And by facing difficulties we can extend that to the professional level. If you think that acting is hard, think about acting directed via Zoom with no other actors but yourself and surrounded by blue walls. Acting comes within the self and concentration plays a big part in that.
